TULONG

v. TO HELP THOSE IN NEED

OUR MISSION

In the Philippines, whether a child attends a public or private institution school there are always expenses that poor families struggle to meet.  Students in public high school in the Philippines face educational expense that average around $50 U.S. dollars - this cost includes school uniforms, school supplies, and extracurricular activities. This financial burden is placed on parents whose priorities are making sure their children have enough food to eat, have shelter to come home to every evening, and clothing to wear. Our mission is to alleviate the financial stress annual expense creates within a students' family and empower them to seek their academic ambitions.

The Tulong Foundation envisions a world where girls and boys of impoverished countries have the confidence to pursue all of their academic aspirations regardless of their socioeconomic background. While monetary aid from international humanitarian organizations are allocated to larger cities, our impact focuses on the much smaller villages and provinces that do not usually receive help because of their isolated location. Our volunteers personally venture into the southern most regions of the Philippines and connect with remote areas who see little to no help from foreign philanthropy organizations.  With your support, students from remote areas will be given the opportunity to pursue their academic interests without the challenges and hardships one faces while living in a rural, poverty-stricken community

In 2021, The Tulong began helping its first high school students who graduated high school continue their college education.  Anticipating to graduate in 2025 with degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, BS in Education, Accounting, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Organic Agriculture and Business Administration.

MEET THE FOUNDERS
OUR COURSES

Marevi and Averie Bishop, a mother and daughter duo, initially created The Tulong Foundation to aid Marevi's hometown of Banga, Mindanao. Without a formal education, Marevi knew the importance of achieving an education - especially in a poverty stricken community. With a heart to give and a mentality to encourage others, Marevi and her daughter Averie created The Tulong Foundation in 2015. It currently sponsors over 36 children in the south of the Philippines. The Foundation has expanded to include ventures such as teaching locals sustainable farming skills and how to find and filter clean drinking water. The Tulong Foundation has been chosen to attend the Clinton Global Initiative Conference, a forum that brings together civic leaders and humanitarian activists in order to create innovative solutions for the world's most pressing matters. Averie represented their organization at the national conference in Boston, Massachusetts and Chicago, Illinois.

MEET OUR SCHOLARS

Since the creation of The Tulong Foundation in 2015, we have had the opportunity to sponsor over 45 students in high school while 7 in college. You can make lasting change in a life by helping provide nutrition and health, childhood development and education for an entire year - all for less than $1 a day.

Your generosity to sponsor a child in the Philippines also lifts entire communities. Our programs reach children’s parents, caregivers and community members. Together we help save children’s lives, protect them from exploitation and provide them with hope for the future.
